Community Overdye @ TCP

Introducing Community Overdye

We’re excited to offer another community program that can help reclaim your unworn or stained pieces in your closet. Offered only during specific windows of time, we will dye your existing pieces in the featured color for the season.

The first color we’ll offer this season is BLACK.

We will be accepting garments from Aug 1, 2026 to Aug 14, 2026.

As we explore and learn more about the operations required to offer such a program, we will have a curated list of garment options you can submit for the program.

Appointments (10 min) are required for the submission of your garments so we have time to assess and answer any questions you may have.

Turnaround time will be ~2 weeks after we close submissions (End of August/Beg of Sept).

Please carefully review the following requirements, disclaimer & pricing below.

Clothing Requirements:

All garments must be cleaned before submission/drop off to minimize the risk of anything reacting to the dyes.

Any color garment will be a good option to dye BLACK. It does not have to be white or light colored.

Any bleach stains will not dye over and stay “bleached.”

Tops/Shirts/Sweaters/Hoodie/Jackets - 100% cotton OR minimum of 50% Cotton

  • This can include knits or t-shirts. Nothing too delicate as the commercial dye house we use can sometimes be too rigorous for the more delicate pieces.
  • No plastic buttons or detailed notions as they can come off in the dye process. Sometimes plastic buttons tend to crack. If you’re okay with that, we can still accept your garment.

Shorts/Pants/Denim/Skirts - 100% cotton OR minimum of 50% Cotton

  • No detailed embellishments or embroidery as it can come off or caught in the dye machines.
  • Drawstrings are okay.

Disclaimer:

  • SHRINKAGE: Due to the nature of the commercial dye process, the heat can cause the pieces to sometimes shrink. This doesn’t always happen but we’ve seen pants shrink an inch or two. For tops/shirts, they sometimes shrink in length vs. width. Please understand this risk!
  • DAMAGE: Sometimes the garments can get caught in the machine and damage can occur hence why delicate items are not suggested. While our dye partner does their best to mitigate any issues, there is still the risk to consider.
  • NOTIONS: If there are any buttons and delicate notions, they will potentially come off due to the heat and commercial process.
  • FABRIC TYPE: If the fabric is a blend of natural and synthetic fibers with minimum of 50% of the natural fiber it will dye but won’t be as dark of a shade.
  • CARE: While the colors are colorfast, we still recommend washing cold water with like colors. Hang dry to prevent fading or turn inside out.

Customers acknowledge and accept any risks when submitting their items into our dye program.
